Sam Fleming began working as a consultant and analyst for the rehabilitation industry in 1990. Under his direction, Fleming-Advanced Outcomes Design, Inc. has embraced and incorporated new technologies to broaden services available to the industry and has worked closely with government bodies, industry associations, and clinicians and administrators in the field to help effect the most beneficial policies possible and assist in the interpretation of those regulations. Fleming-AOD was the first in the post-acute care industry to recognize how burgeoning Internet-based technology could serve the industry and the first to implement it, offering access to real-time data and outcomes reports updated daily with national and regional comparisons. Fleming-AOD also created the nation's first database for long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) to capture data and manage hospital outcomes using national comparison data.
